Hans Egedes house in the Colonial Harbour is one of very few stone houses in Nuuk, and it is the oldest existing building here. The house was built for Egede, when he still lived at the Island of Hope further to the west.
Egede came to Greenland in 1721 and moved to Nuuk (then called "Godthåb" = "Good Hope") in 1728!
